Reset your Mind
Qigong with Damian Saucedo
Qigong is generally a wide spectrum of practices that requires context. The literal translation of qi gong is “cultivation of energy.” It is an Asian form of yoga that has been around for thousands of years. Much of it is performed while standing, though there are a number of seated sets as well. There are hundreds of systems of qi gong that come from various lineages, and many of them focus on different fields.
FAQ
+ What's the Qigong practice? ˇ
Many Qigongs are health oriented or therapeutic practices, while a separate group comes through martial arts lineages. Qigongs can be specialized and customized for you. In general, a Qigong practice is anything that works at being more present and observing the relationships between yourself and all your parts, becoming more in harmony, or between you and others, and even your surroundings. It is about self discovery and self improvement in all aspects--body, mind, and spirit.
+ What’s the difference between Qigong exercise and traditional physical exercise? ˇ
The crucial difference between Qigong exercise and traditional physical exercise lies not in the outward form (which can be the same for both types of exercise), but in the internal dimensions of energy and mind. If one does not acknowledge and explore these internal dimensions, we miss out on the fundamental benefit of the practice.
+ What's the goal of QiGong? ˇ
The goal of qigong is less addition, more of a subtraction process. The more we can get out of our own way, the more we can let the universal flow of energy move through us. We become an agent of its goodwill, and then we take our rightful place in eternity. We are not referring to some far-off universe, but the here and now. Qigong helps us wake up to the living, breathing present moment in which we can always take part in. An important aspect of “getting out of the way” is reconciling the stuck energies in our bodies where grief, anger, and frustration and painful memories reside. Alignment of attention and intention requires a healthy understanding of the human condition; and with guidance andsupport we can learn to engage instead of running from it.
